vi's soft snores wake you up, her parted lips pressed against the shell of your ear. her red hair was messy laid out on her pillow, and stray tendrils tickled the curve of your neck. you press a feather-light kiss to her forehead to not wake her up and brush your hand over her head to smooth the loose hairs out of her face. she stirs a bit, quietly mumbling into your jaw. 

"baby...?" she mutters. her hand dips under the side of her blue whale boxers, scratching at her protruding hip bone before coming up to her face to rub the sleep from her eyes.  

"yes, honey?" 

your small, four-foot christmas tree stood tucked in the corner of your shared bedroom, dim fairy lights blinking around the polaroids and small drawings you two had opted for instead of ornaments. a couple of boxes wrapped in adventure time wrapping paper—vi had insisted—sat beneath the tree.  

the sun had just begun to rise, and the dim light from the crack in the curtains was enough to make her wince and shove her face into your shoulder. "what time is it?" 

your hand fishes in the sheets for your phone. you find vi's instead and lift it to your face to wake the screen. "it's... 6:07," you read from her dimmed display. 

she groans, pulling the duvet over your heads. "it's too early... let's go back to sleep, please." 

you fondly chuckle at her grogginess. "it's also christmas," you whisper, your smile audible in your voice. 

she just mumbles, sniffling and smacking her lips. "yeah..." she rolls onto her side, having your body spoon hers. "wait..." she says urgently, as if just processing what you had said. "wait, it's christmas." 

"well, that is what i said, violet." 

"ohh my goosshh, it's christmasss..." she slurs, her enthusiasm quickly replaced by exhaustion. you press your nose into her hair, huffing deeply as you begin to lull yourself back to sleep. just when you think she's fallen back asleep, her morning voice cuts through the silence. 

"do you think honey baked ham is open on christmas?" she asks. 

"maybe. maybe for very last-minute christmas meals." 

"oh... okay, okay." a few seconds go by, and then: "do you think we could doordash a honey baked ham on christmas?" 

"christmas is today. do you mean today?" you correct her.  

she leans over and grabs the glass of water she got in the middle of the night, bringing the rim up to her mouth and downing the water left in the cup. 

"christmas is today. yeah, can we doordash a honey baked ham tomorr- today?" 

"yes, vi, if they still have them, we can get two—one for you and one for me." 

"hell yeah," she mutters. 

her body twitched with a chill, and she cursed under her breath at the sharp temperature in the room. "shit, it's so cold. the one and only thing i hate about christmas time." 

"the quilt my parents sent us is in the linen closet. you want me to get it?" 

she looks back with pleading eyes. "please, my perfect sugarplum princess pie who i love so much." 

"i'm gonna leave you to get frostbite and freeze to death," you joke while getting out from under the covers to walk the short distance down the hall. 

you reach the closet and pull the thick, padded quilt out from in between two other blankets, its tightly folded fabric hiding the full design of sprouts and ferns. shivering at an especially sharp draft, you pick up the pace and shuffle back to the warmth of the bed. 

shaking the quilt out, you quickly spread it across the bed and rush to get under it, pressing your body against vi’s.  

"i’m gonna set an alarm for 7 so we can order the ham because we're gonna have to order early if we want one. then once it gets here, we'll sleep until 11." 

vi rolls over to face you, a mischievious smile curling her lips upwards. "i couldn't think of a better plan." 

"perfect." you pull the freshly laid quilt up to yours and vi’s chins, nuzzling your head into your pillow. "good night, baby. i love you." 

"um, actually, it's 6 am, so it should be good morning." you can tell if it weren't so cold, she would take her hand out from the blanket to push a pair of imaginary glasses up her nose. 

"you're such a smartass. good morning. merry christmas, vi." 

"merry christmas," she whispers back. "i love you more." 

merry christmas to those who celebrate!!! happy holidays to those who dont!!! yay spread peace and love and joy to the world hooray

okay so its pretty safe to say the car mechanic au has won the poll, ive already started working on it and im unsure whether i will make it a full fic or a one shot but either way i will share a snippet of like the first few hundred words :)

The late summer sun was beating down on Benson as he stepped out from the garage at the Quick-N-Eazy shop. He didn’t care too much for the name, cheesy as all hell, but what could he do? He drank from his bottle, the sweat dripping down his forehead and onto his tank top. ‘Course, according to company policy, he was to have his button-up on top of his tank top, but to hell with that, another layer in close to 100° heat?

He took the chance to gaze across the road, despite the heat from the sun it did make the horizon a hell of a lot prettier. Not that he’d say that to anyone. Not his Ma, certainly not a stranger or any of his coworkers. He was lucky today, nobody else was in the shop for another two hours. Taking an opening shift wasn’t usually his favorite, but for a few hours of solace, he didn’t mind.

Well, he thought it would be a few hours of quiet, but it was just his luck that at the ass-crack of dawn someone’s car happened to come to a crawl and stop in front of the shop. I mean seriously who the fuck goes to a mechanic at 6 in the fuckin’ morning? He initially thought it was some old fuck who was gonna stick him with the car and leave for the entire fuckin’ day leaving him to wait for them to come pick the damn thing up.

Much to his surprise, and earnestly his delight, it wasn’t. 

It was some young guy, probably no younger than twenty, and definitely no older than twenty-three. Benson was pretty good at that sort of thing. He watched with a curious eye while he absent-mindedly polished a few tools that needed some maintenance. The boy seemed frantic, and while it was obviously about the car, there was something in his eyes that seemed a bit more panicked than just breaking down right by a mechanic shop.

He probably wouldn’t have even bothered if it wasn’t for the fact that the guy was damn pretty. His hair was a bit messy, almost like a golden-brown mop, but that didn’t detract from him. He could tell his eyes (teary as they may be) were noticeably blue even from a distance, and he almost hit himself to stop any thoughts from running through his head as he looked at his lips. Damn.

He walked over. Initially, he didn’t say anything, thought he would notice, but after about 5 minutes, he cleared his throat.

a shitty guide to tumblr for people who have never been on this godforsaken website

yeah so ive been thinking about making one of these posts, because tumblr is pretty unlike a lot of popular social media today and because i lost the ones that used to be making rounds. this is mostly for my own use so i dont have to reexplain tumblr every time i try to introduce people to this website, and i can just send this post to them instead

this is more to help you get started with no context of how tumblr operates, its not really a strict guide for you to follow fyi. you could ignore this completely if you want, this is generally for people who are confused, lost, and need somewhere to start. this post also mostly expects you to know what the buttons do, or at least be able to figure out what they mean

1. setting up your blog

okay, so. tumblr has a hugeeeee bot problem. these bots typically have default pfps, nonsensical or overly average urls, no personalization to their blog with everything as the default, no reblogs/posts or very few of them. i, and many others, tend to block these. however, if youve just gotten tumblr and havent customized your blog yet, you might be confused for a bot. so the first thing you should do is something to show that youre a real person, like changing your banner, pfp, or blog title. people also tend to hide their following and likes, but thats up to you if you want them hidden

if youd like to add more information about yourself, such as having an introduction to your blog that doesnt fit in your bio, put it in an intro post and pin it to your blog to make it your pinned post [if you arent sure how to do that, press the three dots on the top right of the post and then press pin post]. ofc your pinned post could be some other post you really really like, such as a pinned reblog of a funny post, a post you made that you thought was a banger and encapsulates your blog, whatever. but keep in mind it will usually be what introduces people to your blog.

for me, my blog introduction has a short introduction to me, what i post, my main tags [ill get into that later], and masterposts. masterposts are posts that you use to link to other posts, typically for posts that are all connected in some way. some examples would be for an art challenge, an au, or a story that spans across posts. it just helps compile and keep track of things.

and ive seen that one repost of that tiktok post. you dont have to prep like its professional or smth [unless you want to ofc]. youre fine, tumblr is informal as hell. just be kind and respectful of others and you should be fine. also, random thing i didnt know where to put elsewhere. go into your settings. you can put stuff like a theme for your blog, add timestamps to posts (which i highly reccommend, keeps you from reblogging warnings that are out of date n such), and whatever else you can find in there.

in addition, you can make side blogs! side blogs are attached to your main blog, and are used for a variety of things. some examples include: gimmick blogs [a blog whos whole purpose is to do one specific thing], ask blogs [a blog where you rp as a character and answer asks as if you were them], au/story/comic blogs [just to keep all of it in one place, if you dont want to use tags], fandom blogs [to split up your blogs by the fandom they post about], and more!

2. how to use tags

people here on tumblr can be veryyyy particular on tags. if you misuse them badly enough, you will likely find out the hard way. so, to prevent that from happening, here a quick crash course in tumblr tags!

dont spam unrelated tags if you make a post about blorbo and tag bingus, despite him not being in the post, that is using an unrelated tag and people will probably get annoyed or mad at you. you tag what is in the post. im looking at you instagram users. you tag the character[s] featured in the post, the fandom/story theyre from, and as [fandom] fanart, [fandom] fanfiction, or whatever it is. [pssstt fyi instead of fandom in brackets you put the fandom the character is from!]

dont main tag vagueposts a vague post is when you talk about someone, without naming them. this is typically done to shit talk the person its about. if you reallyyyy need to talk shit about someone that badly, dont tag it with the main tags you both interact through. ngl i think its just petty and shitty to make vagueposts in the first place, but you do you.

dont main tag critique/hate of people, ships, or characters lets say, for example, you really hate a ship in your fandom, and it bothers you to the point you feel the need to make this dislike known. you do NOT tag it with the name of that ship. people go into that tag to see people talking about how much they like that ship. that is a quick way to get a lot of hate. if you really need to, use that tag with crit slapped onto the end of it. generally, dont walk into someones house, shit talk it, and be surprised when they punch you in the face.

dont censor tags youre not going to get murdered by staff if you say suicide in your tags. if you put tags using censored terms like sewerslide or suc1d3, that only makes it so people who have those terms blocked will get those posts on their dashes. tag that shit and dont censor it, for the sake of the people around you.

now that thats out of the way, heres the other cool thing about tumblr tags! as i mentioned in the third to last paragraph of the previous section, you might want to put your main tags in your pinned post. tumblr allows you to search blogs by tag, so if someone wants to search for all of your posts that are tagged #blorbo, they can!

as an example i have 5 main tags listed in my pinned post that i use, the tag with all my art, the tag with all my writing, my tag for random textposts i make, my tag of reblogs, and my mutuals tag so i can look back and be like yayyyyy i love my moots :3. and while i dont have one, people tend to have an ask tag, where they can put all the asks they answer

3. tumblr algorithm

hate to break it to you pookie, but tumblr doesnt really have an algorithm like other social media. i lied. im sorry. im stealing your spleen. the for you page is... there. but no one uses it most of the time. tumblr operates more like websites used to, and you have to go hunt your posts down in the wild.

here on tumblr, we have the dashboard! it shows the posts from the people you follow in reverse chronological order. this means that, as a tumblr newbie, your dash will be empty. so, go into the tags and follow people who post and reblog things you like. however, that is step one in the circle of life here. you can stop there, of course, but you must keep something in mind.

if you like a post and want to share it with your followers, reblog it. a like will not get it onto their dash. a like is more like telling the original poster you thought the post was neat or that you saw it; this would be more like vent posts, posts about their private life, stuff like that. if its a post youd like to share with your followers, you reblog it; this is usually someone spitting facts you want to show your followers you agree with, a post you thought was funny, cool art, and whatever else you might want to have on your blog.

fyi, when i reblog i typically leave a like. it lets me know that i have interacted with this post before, and helps me so if im looking through a mutuals or someones blog and theres an awesome post left unliked, i know i didnt reblog it. however, thats just how i like to do it

4. tumblr etiquette

tumblr is a very old website, and that comes with a lot of unspoken rules the community has learned over time. heres a quick list of some rules you might need to keep in mind!

dont repost/steal posts a common thing i see on instagram and twitter is people reposting art, animation, or copying posts they thought were clever to farm likes. here on tumblr, we have reblogs! if you want that art on your blog, just reblog it. for example, if you run a gimmick blog that focuses on posting about one character, dont repost someone elses art [especially without credit]. just go reblog the original post, and let them know how much their contribution to the fandom is appreciated in the tags.

dont derail/hijack a post if you see a post thats completely unrelated to blorbo and about a different character completely and go, wow this is so blorbo coded! talk about it in the tags, or go make your own post. we build posts together here, we dont tear them down.

blocking you dont like seeing someone on your dash or when youre looking through tags? dont go and yell at them or something, or make a vaguepost. block their ass. how dare you interpret blorbo in that way. explode. get out of my sight. block tags you dont like. block keywords you dont like. block people you dont like. curate your online experience.

youve dicovered youre blocked oh no! someway, somehow, youve discovered youre blocked! oh the woe. dont make a vaguepost about it. dont go and make a hate mob because of it. it was likely nothing personal. maybe they just didnt like the way you typed. who literally cares. move on.

mutuals whenever you make a mutual, you often get bonded through blood together. i may be be posting about dogs and youre posting about taylor swift now, but through whatever led us to become mutuals, we are forever intertwined through our experience. the dash needs some diversity anyways. however, if this mutual has, for example, spontaneously started reblogging and posting about heinous shit you hate? block. begone. curate your online experience

someone posts something you dont like so you dont like what someones posting? what should you do? nothing. just leave them alone. dont send an ask, dont leave hate in their replies/reblogs. just block them if you need to, and move on

replying to reblogs you want to reply to someone in your reblogs, but you dont want to make a whole reblog or separate post? @ them in the replies of that post and chat with them there, or go to their dms and talk there

5. common lingo

heres some common terms youre likely to run into on tumblr! ofc this can vary from fandom to fandom, but from my experience these tend to span across fandoms.

op - original poster. the origin. the person who made the first post youre reblogging

moot/mutual - a person who you follow and they follow you back

<- prev - used in tags, to denote tags taken from the previous reblog. this can stack, to denote prev prev prev, but just screenshot the tags and add them in a reblog at that point

<- ops tags - used similarly to prev, but specifically for ops tags

blorbo - a term to describe the character that has taken over your mind like a parasite

scrimblo (and its variations) - a term similar to blorbo, but with more of a scraggly tinge to it

tumblrina - a gender neutral term for tumblr users. its not used all that commonly anymore, but i felt it was worth mentioning

yuri - term for a ship between girls

yaoi - term for a ship between boys

headcanon/hc - an interpretation of a character that is not canon. usually is a trait that falls in line with their canon portrayal, but not always

id/alt text - an image description. it describes an image in text, so that if the image is not loading or someone is blind, they can still know what it is/what it says. heres a helpful image for how to write one

asks - when you open your askbox, something you have to do through your settings, it allows people to send you messages that when you answer it posts as a whole tumblr post on your blog. you can also customize your askbox, only by changing the text from 'ask me anything!' to whatever you want. also, it might just be a me thing, but i like to tag who sent the anon in by their url or anonymous if theyre on anon

anon/anonymous - what we use to refer to people who are sending you an ask while on anonymous. some people have them off, because many people dont have the balls to send... unsavory asks on main. this is also why when people are getting hate, anon is turned off

queue - something ive actually neglected to mention! when you add things to your queue, it will post a certain amount of posts over time at the rate you set it to, during the time range you set it to

communities - tumblr communities are a more recent thing that was added to tumblr! you can go join them if youd like. quick warning though, communities that are open tend to get the occasional porn bot posting links in it. report it to a community moderator. this also means that communities that you have to be accepted into likely arent going to reject you. its probably just there to help prevent bots from getting in

porn bots - bots that post links to porn. they spam tags, communities, and spam follow people. report the porn as spam or sexual content, block, and move on

of course, there are way more terms used on this website than this, especially fandom specific ones. i couldnt possibly include them all, but this should be enough so you can understand what people are saying most of the time

Like first off, im not isolated immediately that brings me up by like 45% like i can go see that forest, hang out with the (hopefully not going to bite me or give me rabies) animals pet some squirrels say hi to the hummingbirds, i can go into public and walk around, id honestly probably start skipping bc thats what ive imagined so far considering i wouldnt be as depressed as i am now

Secondly, FULL customization of what i wear just be able to look how i want without fear, probably wear my denim look but with some extra like, an ACTUAL denim skirt that looks nice, maybe makeup if i was feeling up to it

Thirdly, just exploration. This is pretty much the miscellaneous second of this post. Because theres probably no money (i assume i need to do more research) before i get to that i fuckin love research i would know every fuckin affini custom by year 5, anyway because of presumeably no money, fake shop at the mall bc hell yeah fuckin love the mall its like a mini city, youd go in like you were going to the mall and like fake "check out" with like a fake credit card or something and yahh fun but also id just like go get coffee, possibly some matcha, skip around town wearing heels WITH my denim outfit, looking all fuckin cute, go see the plants (not affini like houseplants like mint) fuck id grow some bleeding hearts, some mint, make sure to pick up plant food, bc even tho i CAN do it in the hab unit, its more fun leaving to pick stuff up, it gives you a sense of accomplishment like "yahhhh i did something today 🥰 (its a crime theres no 'fist pump' emoji, i swear there are more useless emojis than practical ones)" and because i wouldnt be in one location for 6+ hours a day (excluding sleep) i would have time to do things that i WANNA do, like finish that pokemon book that im only on kakuna out of pecharunt. And i could drink my coffee/tea and go to the game store and play magic with peoples or pokemon, i could go play some dnd, write my damn books, skip around in heels bc skipping is happy but i wanna wear heels soo yahhhh

just like waxy, i do not have 10 fics and i am just touching on the death note fics because i would rather not think about my stranger things fics at all. so i'll be doing my wips as well !! so heree, have that barest snippets from them :)) i offer my thoughts about each opening alsoo

i. thy evil spirit [lawlight]

The ice-cold water from the faucet dripped on the basin in a methodical fashion.

i bet half of the fic is just light dealing with a tap, i kid you not. like turning it on. turning it off. water. that's all the fic is. this fic is a plumber's mediocre wet dream. i don't completely hate that first line though. it's kind of boring but it works. 3/10.

ii. perfumed roses [yagamane]

On February 14, Misa woke up in the crack of dawn, her mood cheery and her heart full.

ah. the cliche of a story starting with our protagonist waking up and starting their day. how intelligent. this also works though, it has this false-sense of comfort and happiness to it. it's kind of unsettling, especially since. y'know light is supposed to be dead and all. 6/10.

iii. oh to see without my eyes [misa amane-centric]

Every evening, to relieve herself of the stress of the day, she goes on a walk.

simple. the writing is almost dull which is the intention. it gets to the point very nicely. like hell yeah, she is going on a walk. 7/10.

iv. bill of lading [teru mikami-centric]

As you get ready for bed at exactly eleven o'clock, Miss Kiyomi Takada calls you.

technically not even a fic, just a choose your own adventure game i am making for mikami week but i am going to put it here so i can hit the 10 fics mark. nothing to say. it's dull in a way that it was NOT the intention. i need to change this. 1/10.

v. parapraxis [mikalawlight]

"His name is L Lawliet."

i once read this writing tip where you should never start a story with a dialogue and that tip makes nonsense but i still follow it so religiously. this is the only exception because i really do think it works nicely. it puts you right in the action, in that pivotal moment where light learns L's name and in the fic, still refuses to kill him. might be one of the best in this list. 8/10.

vi. i am just a ghost (so i can't hurt you anymore) [lawlight]

He died in his arms, at least. That was perhaps L's only comfort.

okay we are getting something mhm mhm. this fic is what i consider my manum opus so it better be a nice and snappy opening and. it kind of didn't disappoint. it's tragic, it's a little romantic. which is the exact defination of this fic if i am being honest. 9/10.

vii. the telling gets old [lawlight]

On the morning of November 5, 2007, Light Yagami woke up, completely aware that today, L will die. And he had never been so happy in his life.

why do i have two whole fics where the protagonist just. wakes up. what the hell. okay but i will give this a pass though, because i do think it works. this is the lawlight timeloop au and it begins in the average timeloop fashion, character waking up in the day that is going to loop. nicely done here. like hell yeah, L is going to die. very nicely foreboding. 7/10.

viii. a heart that's full up like a landfill [meronia]

Mello's body is nothing but ash and debris in the ground of an abandoned, incinerated church—so Near visits an empty grave each year.

Two Time glanced around the near-empty café and sighed. "Business is moving awfully slow. Probably ’cause no one drinks coffee on a Tuesday night."

Azurite rested their chin in their hand, staring at their phone screen with irritation. "I should’ve downloaded the manga I started. The internet here is so baaad."

"What are you reading?" Two Time asked, idly stirring their drink.

"The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. But it’s pirated..."

"Why don’t you just buy the book—"

"—Because I spent all my savings buying you nasty pizza," Azure grumbled, rolling their eyes.

"Scoff! Pizza is great. You’re the one always ordering Hawaiian."

"You like anchovies! You can’t talk!" Azure shot back, shuddering at the thought.

Two Time rasped their tongue in response as Azure absently checked their phone. Forty-two missed calls from Amarah. That didn’t matter.

They had gotten to the café at 4:55. It was now 5:30. Azure groaned again before deciding to lock in and get the night over with.

At that moment, Two Time’s phone blared to life—a comically loud blast of random Indian music (Extremely loud Indian music).

Azure nearly dropped his own phone. "What the hell was that?"

"My iPon," Two Time said, yanking out an absurdly oversized phone from their pocket. Azure stared. How does that even fit in their pocket? The contact name flashing across the screen read: Stupid Cult Leader.

"Oh, great," Azure muttered, dripping with sarcasm.

Two Time answered, and a shrill beep sounded.

"You’re on speaker—" Two Time warned.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU TWO? YOU SHOULD’VE BEEN HERE 35 MINUTES AGO!" Amarah’s voice exploded through the phone, completely disregarding the warning.

"Wow, calm down. We have work today," Two Time said flatly.

"You ALSO lead the worship today! Remember?! You and Azurewrath were supposed to read the scripture and devotion, but DIDN’T SHOW UP. I swear, the one time we actually need you for something, you DON’T BOTHER to show. How do you expect to climb the sociocracy if you can’t even be USEFUL for ONCE—"

"Honk… mimimimimimi…" (this thing: *Snore* Mimimimimimimi)

A beat of silence.

"...Are you actually sleeping?"

"HONK… mimimimimimimi…" 

"I hate you so much," Amarah hissed. Then—click. Call ended.

Azure couldn’t hold back his laughter, muffling giggles behind his hand. The sound stirred Two Time awake.

Two Time’s phone buzzed again—Amarah calling back.

"You can walk home today," her voice snapped through the speaker. "I’m sick of your BS."

"But our house is a twenty-minute drive from here!" Two Time panicked.

Click. Call ended.

"Damn…" The two stared at each other in mutual disbelief.

"Whatever," Two Time sighed. "I’ll just call an Uber or something."

"I could give you a ride if you want," Azure offered.

Two Time scoffed. "The last time we rode together, we almost got arrested for going eighty in a residential street."

"What’s wrong with going eighty in a residential street?" Azure asked, genuinely confused.

"You hit a veteran! Who happens to be our coach! You’re lucky he couldn’t see your stupid face!" Two Time accused, flicking Azure’s wizard hat off to reveal their eyes.

A couple of customers glanced in their direction, concern and confusion written all over their faces.

Azure huffed, quickly pulling the hat back down. "Keep it down before we actually get arrested."

Two Time opened their mouth to retort but stopped short when a familiar figure trudged through the café doors. Dressed in a red uniform and visor, Elliot looked completely drained.

He barely made it to the counter before slumping against it. "I need two grande quad-shot espressos. Badly."

"What’s the issue today?" Two Time asked.

"My boss is an asshole whose wife should’ve left him years ago," Elliot grumbled. "His dumbass made a 300% discount on every food item and installed a $40 million robux ball pit that smells like straight PISS and is wondering why we aren’t making much profit. And I’m the only one working tonight, so I have to deal with both his whining and bratty customers. I hope he dies in a grease fire."

"...Isn’t your boss your dad?" Azure asked cautiously.

"Yes," Elliot deadpanned. "I swear on Robloxia, I’ll put him in the shittiest retirement home."

As Elliot vented, Two Time prepared his order. "$43.99 robux, please."

Elliot paid the absurd price for coffee, then handed Two and Azure some extra change—because, despite everything, he was a decent friend.

"Thanks. I’d stick around, but my idiot boss only gives me a five-minute break. See you guys tomorrow!" Elliot waved, looking slightly more alive.

"Bye, Ellibear!" Azure and Two chorused, grinning mischievously.

Elliot shot them a death glare, flipping them off as he walked out the door.

Two Time chuckled, eyes gleaming with mischief.

Azure sighed. "What are you plotting now?"

"Oh, nothing," Two Time said, far too innocent. "Just wondering…"

"Wondering what?"

Two Time smirked. "After our shift, we should go out. For pizza."

"You always want to go out for pizza."

"Pizza is delicious."

"Yeah, but I have a feeling you specifically want to go to Builder Brothers tonight. Elliot literally just explained how exhausted and irritable he is."

"300% off is a crazy discount," Two Time pointed out. "Besides, Elliot gets paid for each customer. We’re technically helping him out. :3"

Azure stared at them. "Helping out, you say."

"Maybe we should go to check on how he’s holding up," Two Time suggested, barely suppressing their grin.

Azure smirked back.

The two exchanged a knowing glance—then turned their attention to the growing line at the register.

The atmosphere in Builder Brother’s Pizzeria was warm and calm—a sharp contrast to Elliot’s minimum-wage misery. Two Time and Azure slid into their seats by the window, waiting for their order to be taken.

Two Time couldn’t stop giggling mischievously, barely containing their excitement at the thought of Elliot’s reaction. Azure just watched, knowing there was no stopping Two Time once they set their mind to something.

A familiar voice interrupted their scheming.

"Hey, what can I get you guys toni—wait a second… YOU TWO?! What are you doing here?" Elliot stammered, visibly horrified.

"Oh, relax Ellibear!" Two Time grinned. "We’re just here for some quality time with our dearest friend! Also, we’ll take an anchovy pepperoni pizza—extra anchovies."

Elliot blinked. Azure groaned.

"That is possibly the worst food combination I have ever heard," Azure said, thoroughly disgusted.

"It’s better than Hawaiian!" Two Time argued.

"You like anchovies! You can’t talk!"

Azure turned back to Elliot. "Please. Just give us something normal. Or literally anything that doesn’t taste like betrayal."

Elliot sighed, already exhausted. "Fine. One cheese pizza coming right up. And Two Time—if I see you trying to swap it for some monstrosity, I’m banning you from this place."

Two Time was loving every moment of this.

Elliot let out a tired sigh as he glanced between Azure and Two Time, already sensing that something ridiculous was about to unfold between them.

"Alright, you two, behave yourselves. As I said, I’m the only one on shift tonight, so if you start any nonsense while I’m gone, I swear I’ll serve your pizza cold on purpose." He pointed an accusatory finger at Two Time, who just grinned like that was a challenge.

Two Time waved him off with a grin. "Yeah, yeah, don’t burn the place down, chef."

Elliot rolled his eyes but turned toward the kitchen, muttering under his breath about how he didn’t get paid enough for this.

As soon as he disappeared, Two Time leaned forward, elbows on the table. "Okay, real talk. Pizza or burgers?"

Azure exhaled slowly, as if mentally preparing for battle. “Burgers.”

“Burgers are disgusting.”

“They have more nutritional value than pizza! Burgers have meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Pizza is just bread and cheese. This is why your a stick - all you eat is pizza.

Two Time gasped dramatically, jaw practically reaching the floor. "Wow, okay. First of all, rude. Second, I am NOT a stick!" They pointed a finger at Azure. "And you just have bad taste. Pizza is top-tier."

"Oh, so we’re having this discussion now? Fine. Fine. Burgers have structure. They’re balanced, self-contained, and no one ever has to argue about pineapple being a valid topping."

"And yet," Two Time countered, leaning back with a smug grin, "You ever see a group of friends happily sharing a burger? No. But pizza? Drop one on the table, and it’s an instant party. Plus, burger patties are weirdly unpredictable. One bad patty? The whole thing is trash."

"One bad pizza topping ruins everything," Azure shot back.

"Then just don’t order terrible toppings!"

"Then just don’t order terrible burgers!"

They locked eyes, neither willing to back down, like this was the most important argument they'd ever had.

From the kitchen, Elliot groaned loudly. "I swear, if I hear one more argument about food, I’m launching myself into the pizza oven."

Azure exhaled dramatically, shaking his head. "Alright, fine. I’ll admit pizza has more variety. But burgers are reliable."

"Reliable?" Two Time scoffed. "Burgers fall apart if you eat them wrong. One bite and suddenly your whole meal is collapsing."

"That is not true," Azure argued.

"It absolutely is!" Two Time leaned forward, grinning. "You ever see someone eat a burger gracefully? No. It’s always a mess. Pizza? Effortless. Beautiful."

"You just like pizza because you can fold it like a weird taco," Azure said flatly.

Two Time smirked. "And?"

Azure groaned. "You are impossible."

"You love it."

Azure paused, his face heating slightly, and muttered, "Shut up."

Before Two Time could tease him more, Elliot stormed out of the kitchen holding a pizza box, looking beyond exhausted.

"I leave for five minutes and come back to you two causing problems. Again." He sighed. "I hate this job."

Two Time smirked. "What were you expecting?"

Azure groaned. "Elliot, just give us the damn food before I die of secondhand embarrassment."

Elliot squinted at them, tossed the pizza onto the table, and muttered, "I really need a raise."

1. Red Poppies by @icypantherwrites

Hanahaki (with a twist) AU — Lance has never experienced a case of Hanahaki this bad. He wishes he could say it’s just the amount of flowers he’s coughing up and desperately trying to hide from the team, just as he’s trying to hide the fact that he technically died at Omega Shield from them, but it’s not just that. It’s the fact he keeps choking out red poppies. And red poppies...

They symbolize death.

the most interesting take on hanahaki ive ever seen tbh. i know icy panther is known for her edgier storytelling, but this is one of my faves of hers! i like the originality of it, and of course i adore the addressing of the omega shield disaster

2. Voltron: Last Dialogue by @uncouth-peasant [IMPLIED CHARACTER DEATH]

After the events of Omega Shield, the Astral Plane has a visitor.

okay look i know everyone freaks about major character death but im asking u to read this anyway. for one its only IMPLIED, technically lance could still be alive, and also it’s just a really well-written fic. lance and shiro have so so so much potential with how similar their characters and arcs are, so i loved how this one explored that in its heartbreak

3. The Poison of Deceit by @icypantherwrites

This diplomatic mission is not going the way Lance had hoped. The diplomacy part on behalf of Voltron is going fantastic and Lance doesn’t think he’d be remiss in saying he had a large hand in that. But the whole impress Shiro bit is an epic fail as Shiro doesn’t seem to notice his efforts at all and it’s only worse with Keith showing him up at nearly every turn. The aliens they’re working on the alliance though have noticed his efforts. But as Lance stands here now, Shiro and Keith’s lives along with a vial of poison in his hands, he isn’t so certain that was a good thing.

the fuckin ‘i drank poison to save your life’ trope will NEVER get old idc idc. the heart dropping moment when the team realises that by doubting lance they may have cost him his life...insanity fr. like i eat this shit up every time

Lance knows something’s wrong.

Keith turns his gaze on him, dark eyes latching onto him like an anchor.

Normally this is when Lance can think of something stupid to say to make Keith smile. Bonus points if he can get a laugh. Usually it isn’t hard — smiles come easy when it’s them. But something is wrong, and Lance knows that Keith’s smile will be the farthest thing from him if he says it.

jumping at everyones feet hi hello hey!!!!! im back (its been a day and a half) i need to start listening to my brain when it tries to tell me to relax and take a break while also telling me im actually the laziest and worst person in the world if i do take a break but lmao im feeling better i touched grass i spent the day with hubby before he went back to work today im in a better brain space!!!

gonna like not necessarily vent but just word vomit a bunch of thoughts and feelings i was going through in terms of writing bcos it always makes me feel better and a little less alone talking to other writers/artists bcos ik its a constant battle and whatever but yeah ignore the read more if ur not interested!!!!

gonna try and respond to messages and be a normal person in society 💃

ik its something that i will always accidentally fall back into if i let myself and its inevitable esp with the way socmed is atm and with the horrific rise of ai and fandom being so weirdly competitve if u look in the broad areas outside of a carefully curated bubble it is SO incredible disheartening LMAO but i fell back into the idea of like, # of likes = good or bad and my constant issue of my writing being good = my self worth is good if that makes sense lmao like tying my self worth to the fics i write and how well they do online

like yeah it still is an issue and disheartening not getting feedback and just seeing tons of likes from ageless blank blogs that are slop and probably bots and probably kids and its like a hydra you block 1 and 5 more appear and its never ending and its so so tiring when you see all that and dont get any reblogs or even nice comments/tags or any kind of worthy feedback

but while i do normally get anxious writing fluff anyway, i was already tipping into the pool of # of likes = self worth and i was literally dreading writing fics and having to convince myself and talk myself out of believing that my fics are dog shit, no ones gonna like them because i wasnt getting the feedback otherwise which is where ive been before and it was hell lmao

im coming back now with more the attitude that i do actually believe that if EYE like it who cares and to trust myself, that my brain is always going to be so so very evil to me at all times because im severely mentally ill and if i listened to everything my brain told me i would have 💀 myself by now so ukno lmao im trying to be better at cherishing and appreciating the comments and tags i DO get and especially friends feedback and their comments rather than being upset over not having an abundance ive never had and never will get bcos of the fandom economy and shit and reminding myself that those who are interested in the fic will like it, even if its not for the masses, one person is most likely going to read it and its going to be their favourite fic ever and thats worth more than thousands of likes on tumblr dot com

idk this really is a word vomit lmao i write for myself and yes, i can always improve, but harshly criticising myself and being sad over my writing about things i dont know how to/cannot fix isn't going to make my writing any better or make me like my own works!!! if i wanted to amass thousands of notes on a fic i wouldnt have to put so much energy and attention into what i write, i'd just have to slap together a couple of paragraphs of the most vague and generic smut imaginable, call it an imagine and list the top 10 most popular anime characters right now and watch the soulless likes roll in just to feel like im worth something and thats not why i write!!!! i write because im creative and i love the characters and i love stories and i love sharing these stories and i love coming up with new and creative ways to tell them and to express a story and explore them, not to search through twt for porn videos and link 50 of them in a 10 most popular characters post so a bunch of brain rotted minors can like the post!!!!!

i just am reminding myself that numbers doesnt mean something is good, numbers doesnt mean EYE am good or worth anything or that my fics are enjoyable, as long as EYE enjoy what i am writing, that's more than enough of a reason to do what i do and if other people also enjoy it then that's a bonus!!!!

Okay so i dont think anyone reads my blog, i just want to say something.

As a white person and other white people, queer in particular, I think we can acknowledge the future is stressful and I can't promise nothing awful will happen. But I think we should also be acknowledging that like the usa has always been shitty and fasict. The government just isnt hiding it anymore.

We have a lot of history soaked in blood. Soaked in blood to the very moment i post this and beyond. I dont and wont even start to list things bc the point of this is we all need to start paying attention and if youre reading this im going to assume youre not going need to be walked through the "why we should cancel the gov" list. Im tired too. But guess what? I went to work today. I taught teenagers how to drive. Two obviously queer kids, neither of which seemed fased by the situation, and I didnt bring it up. One of them graduated to go get their liscense. The other was nervous as hell but I could tell they had the ability to grow and adapt.

What does this have to with anything? What it means is that the world is still moving. That the teens i work with look just like me at age 16. But now they have legally changed names to match their genders, and they have a gay flag hanging out their homes. And im a disabled transguy 10 years older than them showing them that driving can be easy. That driving is scary, and that its okay if they dont want to get their license. That it's possible, yes its harder, but possible.

I know i went on a tangent, but the TLDR:

be nice to people, especially the younger generation. We cant keep the cycle of hate and nihilism going.

I talk regularly with strangers if they strike a conversation (before i get the chance). Ive been taught about the 5 pilars of the muslim religion in a gas station. I met an older gay man in the grocery store who told me about his past. We got each others numbers and he sends me holiday text messages and weve talked on the phone.

hello!! its been a while since ive posted but here i am!!! so this game is Dead Plate created by STUDIO INVESTIGRAVE

i had played one of their games before, Elevator Hitch, and i really really enjoyed it! so im very excited for this new game that theyve released

though, this game is probably really different from Elevator Hitch, because that game was a visual novel type of game while this one has restaurant tycoon gameplay

still, im very excited

books:

what feasts at night by t kingfisher: horror novella (?) about a scary house and an ex-soldier. i liked reading ursula vernons reading as always, but this was a bit too short for me to really get a feeling for anything… it also didnt have the same visceral horror as their previous book (what moves the dead) so i was a bit disappointed :(

cathay by ezra pound: a book of tang dynasty poetry translated by notable contemporary poet (and infamous fascist) ezra pound. ts eliot once said that cathay "invented" chinese poetry in the mind of the western reader, which is weird bc he didnt speak a lick of chinese at the time. umm tldr i didnt like this book but i did write 750 words of review including a translation of my own (NOTE FROM TODAY IN OCTOBER: I WROTE THIS LONG ENOUGH AGO FOR CLASS THAT ITS ACTUALLY KINDA EMARRASSING NOW SO PLS BE NICE) if youre interested in that kind of thing lol

wrath goddess sing by maya deane: retelling of achilles where she is a trans woman. dathomira's review of this book can speak more for it than i ever could (and also its been a couple months..) but i really really enjoyed this book. go check it out!

a clear and muddy loss of love by please don't laugh: f/f webnovel. qiyan agula, female prince of the grass plains, has sworn her revenge on the nangong emperor after his reign killed her family and annexed her country. she ends up engaged to the emperor's daughter, nangong jingnu--but their bond makes it harder and harder for qiyan to enact her promised vengance. vibes wise, its kinda like baru cormorant but tilted way farther towards romance than political intrigue. i really loved this!! the way their relationship grows together…. qiyans gender fuckery…. the length of a webnovel really lets you sink into jingnus character development--its such a turnaround that i think it would be hard to do somewhere else. yay i love baihe

year of rice and salt by kim stanley robinson: what if instead of 30% of europe dying from the black plague, 99% of europe died? how would that shape the centuries to come? also, buddhism is here. this book is really well done and really well researched. the audiobook is reaaally good to listen to while travelling--the narrator, uh, doesnt pronounce everything the best but has this really velvety voice that i loved. i had a good time listening to this while driving cross-country (i only did a little of the driving lol) but fell off a little bit after that. also, if anyone knows any books that are more just like the first part let me know!

videogames:

ultrakill: YEAHHH ULTRAKILL HELL IS FULL BLOOD IS FUEL ETC. ok if youre involved in like the trans indie gaming community at all, youve probably? at least heard a teeny bit about ultrakill, which is a fast-paced mega-violent retro FPS about being a robot descending throug hell and KILLING!! i was really unsure about if id like this personally (jumpy, didnt like ovewatch or most fps ive played) but like. dude. ive sunk so many hours into ultrakill this month. im literally on the last layer rn (the game is currently in early access, but theres plenty to do). people call this game overwhelming, but i guess ive felt that since its a single player game its way Less overwhelming than something like um, ovewatch again lol. ultrakill's blood-to-heal mechanic encourages the player to get close and dirty, and there are tons of mechanics that sound as cool as they feel--punching bullets back at the enemy, ricocheting coins into weak points, etc. also gabriel is here!!! i like him a lot :3 theres a free demo here if it seems like its up your alley

yakuza 0: a brawler game set in glitzy 80's japan, following kazuma kiryus rise to power within the yakuza--at least i think thats whats going on? after all, hes the protagonist of like 5 other games also called "yakuza." this game glories in violence and materialism (you use money instead of xp to upgrade your abilities) and it has a gritty story full of sad-eyed men smoking, backstabbing, and losing everything. yakuzas one of those series that kinda hangs around in the background with a couple people Absolutely Obsessed with it, so its nice to see it live up to the hype. im only on chapter 3 (out of 16?) so far, but im really enjoying it :3 of course, yakuza is famous for having lots of minigames but ive only sampled a couple of them so i dont feel like i can really comment on that yet. some of the cutscenes are kinda long but the voice acting is really good…. i usually do stuff like make my bed or fold laundry while im watching lol. id recommend it so far :3

neon white: scratches the ultrakill speedrunning itch but if the only part of ultrakill was speedrunning and the gritty visual element was replaced by like, smooth apple-style celestial gloss (theres no ground pound even!). in ultrakill you get a beautiful array of tools (guns) to solve the same problem (killing a guy) in multiple ways but with neon white theres essentially one perfectly bite sized (most missions are 30 seconds or less) solution and you just have to get as close to it as you can. brought down of course by the extremely corny writing and voice acting, which at least has the decency to be sincere--it grew on me, but not by much. having cutscenes interrupt the mission sets was also deeply frustrating. IT FUCKS THE FLOW, MAN. anyways still a really really good game with an amazing soundtrack that i would recommend for any first person platform likers or speedrunners

rabbit and steel: just a really fun mmo-type (GCD-based) game! for like, wow/ffxiv raiders who wish those games had fewer cutscenes to sit through haha or potential raiders who dont want to put together a static…

ghost trick: afaik, shu takumi's only standalone mystery game. a ghost detective investigates the mystery behind his death by possessing objects and tricking on them, ghost style. um the ghost trick fandom is very strident about playing spoilerless, and i do think that was definitely good! some of the twists here are pretty crazy. but, like, i think that insistence made me think that ghost trick was going to be "lifechangingly good" instead of just "very good" -- which it is! the puzzles are very clever and fun and the writing is, of course, really funny, charming, and heartfelt. but i couldnt help but be just a little bit disappointed? still a good game though.

balatro: poker game where all the rules are malleable--for the right price. dude balatro made it so much harder for me to pass my finals. really good game if u are a numbers type of person (or maybe really bad) i think i would have sunk a LOT more time into this if pikmin hadnt come around

tv/movies:

dear ex (rewatch): i already talked about this on one of my [other posts] but rewatching it was good :3 i cried again

brave bang bravern: bravern is like… a pastiche of the mecha genre? that mixes like, gritty war mecha shows with fluffy sentai-like shows that ultimately ends up having a lot of heart and sincerity. and also gay people?? idk i really liked it but i think u kinda have to be mecha-pilled at least a little bit already for sure

shogun: woops i forgot to finish watching this. well its a drama about this british sailor who shipwrecks on japan in the middle of a power grab (by tokugawa) really fun! unfortunately i frequently do not have the attention span for hour long episodes unless someone makes me do it

honk for jesus: drama? about the wife of a megachurch pastor who is trying to stage his big return. about what she gets from staying with him, what she endures and what she inflicts on others as a result. (also, image!) really interesting to watch as someone who knows very little about megachurches, with some fantastic acting

life is short girl walk on: sort of an anti-romcom? about one girls wild night out. soo so so pretty it really captures when youre like out really late with your more adventurous friends and youre like wow literally anything could happen rn. definitely worth a watch 👍

challengers: bro all the filmheads saw challengers its the tennis threesome movie. its really good enough said

i saw the tv glow: i watched this movie on a shitty tv interrupted by gambling ads like three times and it still ripped my dick off. man. not a lot to say about this one bc i already talked about it a bunch with other people but i think everyone should watch it

marcel the shell with shoes on: slice of life movie about, well, a living shell. with shoes on. actually really really good?? i was so surprised (the trailer is like accurate but at the same time makes it seem kinda hallmark twee) and like it is a little bit cutesy but not in a way that diminishes the movie itself or its messaging.. i think it being pretty offbeat and also the internet elements (?) also helped balance this. has the pikmin element of "wow being small really helps you to marvel at the world's beauty in a new way" while also being about connection and grief.

the bad guys: animal heist movie. its pretty good even if i don't like akwafina very much at all. fun and soothingly predictable with nice art

podcasts:

small victories: small victories is a slice of life/drama podcast about marisol, a recovering drug addict trying to put her life back together--and it's really going to happen this time, for sure! marisol has such a clear and engaging voice (and her voice actor is so great!) that you can't help but root for her no matter what, even when she messes up horrendously. it made me go like this o_o 🫢 alone in my room like i was eavesdropping on a breaking up couple at a party

The Phillies loss was crazy lmao. They tried out a new pitcher (the young man they brought up from the minors) and he sorta choked that game. It got so bad they sent Stubbs out for the final inning :^/ That's why it was so high honestly. I think they got a grand slam and another run from that inning alone haha. They got some rest during the all-star break (and lost twice) but they're back!! 5 runs up today which was good to see, finally.

But since you've mentioned it 👀 I'm taking this as a chance to ramble endlessly about my baseball au ideas

Okay! So, in my head it starts as a normal season, maybe a few weeks in. Soap is the only one not on the team, a young hotshot making waves in AAA. When one (inconsequential) member of the team gets injured so they bring up Soap.

In the beginning, he's learning to take on the new position (maybe he was DH or another infield position before) and really bonds with Ghost as his pitcher. I also like the idea of his going to a cocky, young up and comer to learning to be a part of the team and a real superstar. Also, some found family vibes because yes :)

Some other things:

I like to think Soap is a fan favorite. He's hot, confident, and loves engaging with the fans. The umpires hate him (hes always fighting them), and other teams are annoyed by just how good he is and how unhumble he is about it.

Ghost is well loved in the city with a contract keeping him there for years to come. He's quiet and has no real social presence outside of baseball, but the fans find him charming. I also think he's big into charity, volunteering, and generally giving back to his city. I think he'd do a lot for addicts and poorer families :')

I think it would be so funny for it to be a "everyone thinks their dating while they are clueless" scenario. I'm talking videos of Soap falling asleep on Ghost in the dugout, him spending time in the bullpen when he's on the IL (the camera men were desperately searching for him), him being micd up just to hear him shamelessly flirting or joking with Ghost on the mound, interviewers asking them about their friendship and all their answer sounding suspicious as hell.

(bonus angst, maybe Soap plays into it to gain more attention before realizing he actually does like Ghost)

I have some ideas about the getting together but that comes with some spoilers on how I want it to end (it'll go up to the World Series obvi, with them against their mortal enemies. The Bristol Shadows)

Also. My favorite scene idea rn is an interviewer asking them where they got the nickname Soap for Johnny-
